The Board of Directors of Literacy Partners of Manitoba (LPM) is announcing today the immediate closure of our business office in Winnipeg as it moves to wind down all operations of LPM by April 30, 2016. While the Board continues to believe in the importance of the organization's work, it also recognizes that in the absence of sustainable funding, it can no longer meet the fiscal requirements toward achieving its broad mandate.

Since 1987, LPM has been a provincial voice of adult literacy contributing greatly to the understanding and advancement of Manitoba's Literacy and Essential Skills landscape through advocacy, research, policy development and the support of practitioners in the field. LPM leaves a legacy of significant research and resources and a record of successful projects and partnerships. LPM has partnered with diverse groups within government, business and the not- for-profit sectors in Manitoba and across Canada.

The Board deeply regrets having to make this decision and is extremely proud of the work accomplished. The Board wishes to extend heartfelt thanks its hard-working staff, program contractors, membership, and funding partners for their contributions to LPM's mandate for close to 29 years.
